New Opportunities – Online Intern and Online Marketing Intern

Kill Your Darlings, a Melbourne-based, independent literary publication, seeks an Online Intern and Online Marketing Intern to work one day per week (or equivalent). This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding creative company, and to have extensive and practical experience in the publishing industry. Each position is voluntary and interns will report directly to the Online Editor.

Expressions of interest are requested by 5pm on Monday 20 February 2012. Please provide a one-page CV, two references, and a cover letter explaining why you would like to become part of the Kill Your Darlings team. JOB DESCRIPTIONS

The Online Intern will:

- Assist in maintaining the journal’s online presence
- Write and coordinate blog content
- Edit and proofread online content
- Coordinate Kill Your Darlings web content for each new issue
- Have creative input into blog strategy and direction.

The Online Marketing Intern will:

- Work with the Online Editor to enhance the journal’s online presence and engage with readers, including through social media
- Coordinate online publicity and promotion for each issue on publication, including special offers and writing e-news
- Prepare online content schedules
- Have creative input into marketing strategies


JOB REQUIREMENTS

The Online Intern must:

- Be proficient in Microsoft Word
- Have experience with blogging (WordPress CMS experience welcomed)
- Have excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Be well informed about Australian and international publishing and literary magazines, particularly the online aspect
- Be responsive, creative, organised and hard-working
- Be able to work independently.

The Online Marketing Intern must:

- Have experience with social media
- Have excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
