Feeding the Hand that Bites: The Demise of Australian Literary Reviewing (panel discussion)
17/03/2010
at 6:30 pm, Readings Carlton, 309 Lygon St
Join
us for a discussion on Gideon Haigh’s provocative lead essay on Australian
reviewing culture in the new journal Kill Your Darlings, convened by
editor Rebecca Starford, who regularly reviews for The Age and The
Australian. Gideon will discuss the timidity and clubbishness of Australian
reviewing culture, as he sees it reflected in the literary scene.
Giving their points of view from the adjacent worlds of film and music will be The Big Issue’s music editor Clem Bastow and DVD editor Anthony Morris. Clem writes regularly on music for The Age and presents Triple R’s Transference. Anthony is a film reviewer for Empire and writes on The Wire for Kill Your Darlings Issue One.
